World News | New York | New Delhi: In a landmark move to expand global academic collaboration, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University (DDUGU), under the visionary leadership of its Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Poonam Tandon, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the American University for Global Peace (AUGP), USA & United Nations University For Global Peace (UNUGP), USA.

This prestigious event was held in conjunction with the United Nations International Zero Waste Day, focusing on the crucial theme: “Environment & Society for Establishing Global Peace to Build Sustainable, Developed, and Strong Nations.” The seminar emphasized the urgent need for environmental sustainability as a fundamental pillar of global peacebuilding and nation development. Thought leaders, policymakers, and academicians gathered to discuss actionable strategies for reducing environmental waste, fostering sustainable development, and promoting a harmonious global society through education and international cooperation.

The event took place at Panchsheel Balak College, Noida, in the esteemed presence of Principal H.E. Amb. Dr. Neeraj Tandan. Distinguished global dignitaries graced the occasion, including His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Mark Burns (Advisor to the Honorable President Donald Trump), Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Yecenia (Jessy) Sanchez, Hon’ble Judge Mr. Sunil Singh, senior IAS officers Mr. Brijender Goal and Mr. Himanshu, and other notable personalities such as Dr. Durgesh Kapoor, Dr. Archana, H.E. Hon’ble Judge Mr. Sunil Singh was recognized with the Best Nation Builder Award. Several other dignitaries, including H.E. Amb. Dr. Mukesh Kumar Jain, H.E. Amb. Dr. Virender Singh, Mr. Leela Mohan, Mr. Mark, Mr. Charles Martin, Mr. Siva, Dr. Ramwanth Gupta, Dr. Aditya Shivhare, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Meena, and Dr. Harpreet Kaur, were honored with Awards of Excellence for their contributions to global peace and humanitarian efforts.

AUGP USA, operating in 126 countries, is a globally recognized institution specializing in peace and conflict studies. Led by its esteemed Chairman and Chief Rector, His Eminence Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan, AUGP USA has been honored worldwide for its contributions to global peace. Notably:

Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan was the first Indian to receive the prestigious “US President’s Lifetime Achievement Award” from then-President Barack Obama for his peace education and humanitarian work across 80 countries.

His contributions have been recognized in over 70 countries, with his bronze statue installed in the European Historical Museum in 2014.

The award ceremony, held in Jammu on December 23, 2024, was attended by a massive gathering, with Hon’ble PMO Minister Dr. Jitender Singh receiving the award on behalf of Prime Minister Modi.

Adding to the momentous occasion, a book titled “Youth Empowerment for Nation Building”, authored by H.E. Amb. Dr. Neeraj Tandan and co-authored by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan, was inaugurated. This book will be presented to global leaders, including the President of the USA, the Prime Minister of India, and various international libraries.
